Medicare Supplement (Medigap)Medicare (Parts A&B) only pays for 80% of your Medicare related bills.
Therefore, you are responsible for the remaining 20%. These costs include co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles. This 20% is known as the Coverage Gap. Medicare Supplement or Medigap Insurance enhances your Medicare by paying for medical expenses in that 20% gap. All policies offer the same basic benefits, but some offer additional benefits so you can choose which one meets your needs. Part D Enrollment
Most people enrolling in a Medigap plan for the first time will choose to enroll in a Part D prescription drug plan. Not enrolling in a Part D plan when eligible may result in penalties.
You will need to sign up for Part D through private insurance companies. To be eligible for Medicare Part D enrollment, you must have Medicare Part A or Part B, and live in the service area of a plan that provides prescription drug coverage (Part D). |
